New songs on Myspace player

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

Hi Folks, We’ve added a few new songs to the myspace music player. A good chunk of the new version of ‘I’m Not Made Of Eyes’ is up there now, along with ‘Sinking Ships’ and later today we’ll put up the full versions of a couple of more album tracks. We might even get a sneaky new B-Side up soon too. www.myspace.com/generalfiasco

Blogcano, or General Fiasco’s lastest week in Europe.

Monday, April 19th, 2010
So it’s now Friday night and we are in the magnet club in Berlin with a two band hospitality rider for one band…but let’s start at the beginning.
After getting confirmation of a kerrang interview and photo shoot team fiasco (EDIT – interesting here that leaky thinks ‘Team Fiasco’ is just the band, because everyone else drove!) got to fly to London on Tuesday morning which was great as normally getting to London involves a 12 hour trip from Belfast to Dublin a ferry from Dublin to Holy head and then about a 5/6 hour drive that we’ve done more times than i care to mention.

So we arrive in London just after 11am as our poor Tour manager (EDIT – This sympathy is sarcasm!) is leaving Belfast to arrive 12 hours behind us. Next we are off to get our photographs taken in central London by none other than jimmy page’s daughter Scarlett. Lovely lady who worked us hard. Each team fiasco member took a turn at doing a handstand whilst the other two would stand casually by their side as if it was perfectly normal. As you can imagine it’s not the most flattering look for the person upside down but it made for a ‘different’ photo none the less that hopefully none of which will ever see the light of day.

The remainder of the day was spent getting free Dr martins and enjoying a lovely dinner at one of our managers houses (thanks Jane). So after our TM rocks up just before 11pm we leave to drive to Ashford.

We get a few hours sleep and then we’re up to get the boat from Dover to Calais. We’ve only been to Paris once (for about 30min in the middle of a 26 hours train journey from Holland to Cannes. EDIT AGAIN – This 30mins was spent buying booze, we nearly missed the connecting train. Booze is very cheap on mainland Europe, good work France) but i have to say our 2nd impression of Paris was a lot prettier. We arrive at the venue which is on a canal to see homeless people sleeping under the bridge in a ‘tent village’ . From now on anytime i take for granted all the driving and staying in cheap hotels or even hostels I’ll have to remind myself of how truely fortunate we are (EDIT – You Bitched about it at the top of this blog!!!).

We soon run into the black box revelation guys and their crew which was great as we haven’t seen them in more than a month since our UK tour. The venue provided us with a lovely meal of salmon & sweet potato and a giant jug of red wine, UK promoters take note! The gig was brilliant, sold out and the crowd were great. To break precedent with the Black Box guys we declined to party in Paris as everyone was destroyed. Early night with all in bed by 1.30am.
Wednesday morning and one team fiasco member is up at 7am to begin his morning hair styling regime. thinking he is a few steps ahead of everyone else who are still sleeping(in) we get a call from our good friend Rick who was due to fly to Paris from Dublin telling us that he won’t be joining us due to volcanic ash in the air. personally i don’t believe any of it, for anyone reading this in the UK stock up on the essentials because I’m almost certain there has been some virus similar to the one in 28 days later (seen it?) going about and that is why the UK and Ireland is in quarantine……god speed
Back to bed for a few hours. We set off from Paris hoping to see the Eiffel tower on the way out and i think the question must be asked ‘how much of a tower is it if you can’t see it from the motor way on the way out?’ Now for the 747km drive through France, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany. I’m pretty sure Europe was playing a trick with us. A trick it could only have been taught by it’s friend the universe because like the universe it felt like it was expanding and the end/edge would never be in site. On a positive note we found a nice ice-cream shop in what has to be the prettiest village in Europe. We considered just staying there and just informing our managers/label that the tour was going great etc
Through much juke box hijacking in the van including the music of if i can remember it all. Queens of the stone age, them crooked vultrures, the Cure, Stereophonics, modest mouse, Queen, kings of leon, gwen steffani, the get up kids, at the drive in, Weezer, taylor swift(??) and our TM Darren’s personal favourite ‘death cab for cutie’ which doesn’t at all make him want to jump out of the van at 100km/per hour on the autobahn after a few songs. where was i? yeah so we finally get to our hotel just before 9pm to call it an early night. Rock n Roll isn’t dead…..
Up and left by 12pm we leave Hannover bound for Berlin we stop off to get the best plate of pasta known to man. F**k Italy, Germany has got spaghetti nailed. Check out the Photo of the ‘Giant’ Graffiti in Berlin. Another call from our buddy Rick let’s us know there is no flights today again, coincidence? You’ll all see, the end is near… We get a long soundcheck and jam out a lot of new songs.
We also hear that Mark Greaney(JJ72) who was due to play tonight with us is not going to be able to make it as his flight has also been cancelled so here we’ve come full circle as to why we have more booze than could kill several of team fiasco. i hope this blog has felt as long as these last few days of travel…..(EDIT – Still Bitching)
